Day 5: BRNO - KROMERIZ - OLOMOUC

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Today we get up early because at 8 we want to be on our way to our next destination: Kromeriz, although our main objective today is visit Olomouc.
We have had breakfast at the Hotel Pod Špilberkem and soon after we are on the road.
It took us 1 hour or so to get from Brno to Kromeriz and we have parked in a street near the main square of Kromeriz.
Most of the visits we want to do are in the area around the square, so we will not have to walk much from where we left the rental car in the Czech Republic parked.

Kromeriz

We see more people in the morning than in the afternoon, we have been observing that after 6:30 or 7, there is no one in the streets anymore.
We visited the Archbishop's Castle and the gardens and after this we will visit the surroundings of the old town.

As in almost all the visits that we have already done in previous cities, like yesterday in Trebon and Telc, we know the Town Hall, the Plague Column ...
As a curiosity here we see the Kromeriz oldest pharmacy, which is still preserved.
Our idea is not to stop too much, because we want to get to Olomouc, since we have read that there is a lot to visit and we have already noted what to see in Olomouc in one day.
It takes another hour to arrive more or less and we go directly to the Olomouc hotel, the Arigone Hotel to leave our bags.
The hotel is again very central and they do us the favor of giving us the room before the hour, so that we can leave our bags. The perfect room, spacious, very clean, all wood. It is clear that we have succeeded fully.
Then we start, to start with the visits what to see in Olomouc in one day.
If you do not have a car and you are staying in Prague, a good option to visit this city is to book this excursion with a guide in Spanish.
But as soon as we leave, we see a large black cloud that is threatening us and since we are very positive, we leave without an umbrella thinking that time will open soon giving way to a radiant sun.
Well n has given us time or to reach the main square, take a few photos of the Column of the Holy Trinity, the town hall and the astronomical clock, when it has begun to sparkle.

Olomouc

But we have not given up and we have continued a little, to see if we could see any more things, even if it was in the rain.

The astronomical clock of Olomouc

We have reached a church and seeing that the weather was getting worse, we have returned to the square, with the intention of taking refuge in a bar. We have entered one of the covered terraces and started a shower of care. We have arrived just in time.
There we have been more than half an hour, admiring a beautiful square in the rain.

Olomouc

Once it has stopped, we have immediately resumed our journey by going directly to see the fountains of the square, which we had not seen before.

Olomouc

Afterwards we went to Dolní Namestí to see the 2 fountains and there it seemed that it was going to rain again, but we were lucky and it has endured.
It starts to call us the stomach and we decided to go looking for something to eat without even knowing what we were going to take.
Looking for something to eat we have reached the Cathedral, which we have taken the opportunity to visit.

St. Venceslaus Cathedral

We had been told that we would need 2 days to visit the city and the truth is that the most important thing we have done in a few hours and the atmosphere of the city that we had read so much we have not seen yet. Maybe it will be because of bad weather or not that we have known how to find it, but the truth is that from our experience, we can say that With one day there is more than enough to know the most important areas of Olomouc.

Olomouc

In the end we end up in the town hall square, in a restaurant that we don't have as recommended after being around for 1 hour.

Olomouc

After eating and seeing that the weather does not accompany too much, we decided to go to the hotel and rest for a while that after the days we took on this route in the Czech Republic by rental car we deserve it.

After this break we went out in the middle of the afternoon, to go for a walk and dinner, a ritual that is becoming commonplace these days, as we did yesterday in Brno.

Olomouc

There is no one down the street, we arrive walking to the Cathedral and we will go to dinner directly since we still don't see too much atmosphere in the city.
It's a little after 10 at night when we return to the hotel to rest and take advantage of the Wi-Fi connection we have today to catch up.
