Go to Krakow. Warsaw has nothing. It is ugly, gray and boring. So, again and again. But I don't know what happens to these "belittled" sites that we usually like ... and Warsaw was no exception. Yes, Krakow may be the jewel of Poland but remember that rough diamonds are the most precious stones and Warsaw turned out to be a diamond to all effects.

Of course, you have to work it, huh ?. You have to dig deep. You have to go beyond appearances. Removing the historic center, we cannot say that Warsaw is a beautiful city, one of those that enters your eyes at the first exchange of looks. His Soviet past is still there. Tocho Gray. Exaggerated. Grid. But enough look at the details To find little treasures

And it flows, Warsaw flows like the Vistula, its brown or green river, depending a little on the weather, depending a little on what is going on. Because he, like his city, It has a lot of character. And it is something schizophrenicEverything is said. You go to the neighborhood of Prague (in the past, one of the worst fame in the city) and take out his hipster vein ... but don't think it's a Williamsburg, a Shoreditch or a Malasaña. No way. As soon as you say goodbye, hipsterism disappears to give way to a dilapidated street market where you could buy even illegal weapons! That following the fashions is fine, but just the nonsense. Here the same goes for a drink at the Absurdum pub (it's called that, we swear it) and you go out to the many lost in an abandoned middle courtyard with altars of virgins and bullet marks, reminiscent of the uprising of the city during the Second War World.

Warsaw never got to take off memory of war. He didn't even try. Because he didn't want to do it. We are what we are thanks to what we were. And the war made Warsaw the Warsaw shown today. This is taught by the Museum of the Uprising, a must. This is taught by the blue-eyed looks of grandmothers. This is taught by the walls riddled with bullets. But one thing is not to forget and another is not to move forward and Warsaw did move forward. "Weak" is not a word that you will find their language. Maybe its symbol be a mermaidBut friend, it's a mermaid with shield and sword. Ready for the fight. Ready for death

Warsaw it's like your neons: Get to shine even through the densest fog, and give a touch of color even the most gray day. Warsaw is Chopin and hard rock daytime, it is vodka and hot chocolate, it is spicy and cherry liqueur. It is an impossible language. It is flowers in summer and snow in winter. It's black and white. And this is priceless.

Warsaw is for everyone and for everyone. Anachronistic You look to the left and you are in the Cold War, you look to the right and you are in the Middle Ages. You look up and the skyscrapers return you to the present. You look at the ground and… well, no, in Warsaw it's not forgiving to look at the ground!

And walking and walking you can reach the Museum of Communism or that of the History of the Polish Jews. Or yet market full of ethnic and biological food. Or you get drunk with rivers of beer next to the river of water. You go up to the terrace of Palace of Culture and Science or you lock yourself in an old cinema.

And then there are the milk bars (bar mleczny), Soviet vestige like the one that most, where for a few zlotys, you can eat beet soup and knuckle that could feed a hungry t-rex. And the pierogis, the Polish version of the Chinese dumplings. Stuffed with cheese. Of meat. Vegetables, mushrooms and even fruit. Stuffed with love of the good. The one who gets fat because you're happy. Which enlarges the stomach and soul.

That Warsaw is ugly? If so, let the handsome ones die. Let us claim the imperfect. Defective. The interesting and the different. If you want a place where everything is tailored to Instagram, don't come. If you want a place that overflows, don't hesitate: Warsaw awaits you.
