If what you long for is a little piece of Argentina in Barcelona, stop looking because we have found it in the Gothic quarter. The restaurant that will transport you to the land of the end of the world, of dulce de leche, of tango, of Maradona, Messi and Mafalda, is called La República, and believe me, you will love it!

As soon as you cross the door you encounter the great personality of the place: walls decorated with pop icons of Argentine culture, everyday objects transformed into decorative details and then he…. The smell of empanadas fresh from the oven mmm! It is also a perfect place to have a cocktail at the bar.

The menu takes a tour of the main Argentine dishes: milanesas, choripan, barbecue of meat, provolone in casserole, empanadas, roasts, chovito and much more! We, advised by the kind Juan, decided to try the Milanese, some empanadas and the choripan. To drink could not miss a very cool Quilmes (Boludito, it is clear that we have provided for you!)

Shortly after ordering Juan was already arriving with the empanadas and the choripan ... Then the fat prize would come.

An entire institution for Argentines and we assure you that you are from La Republica are dead! We tried two: meat and provolone, caramelized onion and oregano.

The most desired moment came for Rober, who suddenly releases me "Choripaaan, it just makes me horny just the name ... Choripaaan!". What do I have to do with this seguntino? ... I don't know! But do you know what my boyfriend's object of desire is? A grilled sausage sandwich, with freshly baked bread and if you also add onion and peppers it starts to drool Homer style. How was it? To suck your fingers!

In La República you can “ride” your own Milanese: you choose the type of meat, the batter and the topping. We decided on the veal Milanese, with the house batter (parsley, chimichurri, garlic) and with Leo's favorite sauce (all names refer to characters, events and symbols of Argentine pop culture!) Verdict? Very good! Personally I am a total fan of Milanese: I tried them in Italy (does the cotoletta alla milanese sound like you?) In Austria (where we ate a Wiener Shnitzel bigger than the dish, I swear it!), But this one takes the prize for the tastiest , thanks to the topping of Neapolitan sauce, basil, mozzarella and garlic. It also came with baked potatoes that always make your day!

Every good meal ends with a dessert, and in this case it has not failed! If there is a typical Argentine dessert this is dulce de leche, and here we try it with flan: mmm that good!

So you know, if you want to try Argentine food in a cozy place ... this is your place!
