The main reason to go to Lampang was take the train (It seems stupid but look, that's how we are ...). We wanted to do it in Myanmar, so we took advantage that the distance was not much to go to this city. The idea was to combine on the same day the bus that arrived in Chiang Mai, and leave from there by train. However, they had canceled the afternoon trains, probably because all the lines end in Bangkok, and as is the situation with the floods ... so we started looking for cheap accommodation near the Chiang Mai train station, total we will be only one night, we settle for any thing…

After asking in a guesthouse that was full, we tried with a hotel man, of these that are advertised in the magazines, it is the only one we saw in the area. To our surprise, it cost a few bahts more than the guesthouse, and we booked without thinking twice. That afternoon we spent the whole stuck in the pool, about two hours under the sun in the water. How long is the backpacker's life!

The next day we woke up to enjoy one of those breakfast buffets typical of business hotels, with the idea of not skimping on toast and eggs, it is not going to be that the train breaks down and we do not eat that day (pure rusty mentality, although it is better to say backpacker). Finally we took the train in third class, together with a group of high school students the sea of friendly.

After pass through several villages, including one called Pasao (we have passed through Pasao), we arrived at Lampang. The city itself does not have much, some beautiful temples, for which you have to pay entrance, a street with historical buildings quite deserted if you do not arrive on the weekend because that is where they put the Saturday market, a couple of parks where relax having an ice cream, and the typical night market.

To continue the custom we returned to rent a motorcycle, this time of good times, and rosita, as Lety likes. We had no gas problems here, hehe. From temple to temple, and shot because it touches me. In one of them we saw a man in Tarzan boarding a coconut tree cutting the coconuts that another man picked up and piled on the ground. Security? As he had a rope tied and at the other end of this nothing, it seemed more like a rope to pull him in case he could escape (how ugly the latter).

To end the day we went to the busy Aroy One Baht restaurant, where for 2.5 cents of euro you have a plate of boiled rice, the rest of the dishes are not so cheap, but for something more than two and a half euros we have eaten both. Eating in Thailand is super cheap!Lampang is an ideal destination for backpackers and for those who want to know a little less touristy Thailand than usual…

Transport. How to get to Lampang from Chiang Mai?

We have arrived from Chiang Mai by train, it cost us 23 baht each. To move we have rented a pink motorcycle for 200 baht.

Accommodation. Where to sleep in Lampang?

We found a spacious room with bathroom, tv and wifi, although a bit basic, in the Kim Hotel for 250 baht.

Gastronomy. Where to eat cheap in Lampang?

The Aroy One Baht restaurant has dishes from 1 baht (2.5 euro cents), ok, rice, but the rest of the dishes are also cheap. The place is nice, but it's usually full, so patience 🙂
