Day 6: OLOMOUC - BOUZOV CASTLE - KUTNA HOUR - KONOPISTE CASTLE - KARLSTEJN CASTLE - PRAGUE

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Today we have two great visits near Prague: Kutna Hora and Konopiste Castle. That is why this morning, so as not to change the routine, the alarm sounds again at an hour in which they have not "set the streets yet". We went down to breakfast at the Hotel Arigone in Olomouc and we set off Bouzov Castle where it took us about 45 minutes.
Not to vary, as has happened several times in the trip, the GPS, takes us on secondary roads, quite bad, so it takes us a little longer to arrive.

We stop at the side of the road, when we see the Bouzov Castle in the distance, to take some photos since our intention is to see a panoramic view and not enter.

Bouzov Castle

Then we went up to the top with the car and although we did not enter, we toured the site making some photos.
On this trip, we have quite decided, as we said at the beginning of the trip, that we are not going to enter the castles and that we will travel them from the outside, since we have enough time.
After this, we are going to Kutna Hora near Prague, where we want to visit the Ossuary and the Cathedral of Santa Barbara.

It takes about 1 hour and a half to arrive and after parking we don't go directly to the Kutna Hora Ossuary, the best known place in the city.

Kutna Hora Ossuary

It is a somewhat “rough” visit, but what we want to do and that of course leaves us more than impressed.
If you do not have a car, a good option is to book this excursion to Kutná Hora with a guide in Spanish from Prague.

Kutna Hora Ossuary

The truth is that we had a good time there, taking pictures and admiring the "architecture" made only with human bones.

From there we decided that it is time to eat and we stopped at a pizzeria, one of the restaurants they recommend in Kutna Hora.
After having a full stomach, we are on our way to the Church of Santa Barbara from where we have excellent panoramic views of the city of Kutna Hora.

Kutna Hora

We decided to do the walking tour, since we see that many of the streets are cut by works.
The Church of Santa Barbara de Kutna Hora can be seen from various points of the city and when we get to its feet we see that it is immense.

The tour is beautiful, since it is a quiet city with many spectacular corners. Seeing that the afternoon is coming, we decide that we will make the 2 castles that we have programmed.
Anticipating one in the morning and thus being able to return the rental car in the Czech Republic in Prague tomorrow morning and not in the afternoon.
So we continue to advance one morning to the planning we have made of the route through the Czech Republic.
Well said and done, we are on our way to the Konopiste Castle near Prague.

It took us 1 hour to arrive and after getting lost for more than half an hour, we got to the parking lot.
The Konopiste Castle It has already closed when we arrive, so we go up to the enclosure, which still remains open, up a good slope.
We take the photos of rigor and see another bear, but this black, in one of the moats of the castle.

Bouzov Castle

The truth is that after having seen numerous castles on our trip to Scotland, these are running out "small", not to detract, but we are not liking so much.
It's 6 in the afternoon and we decide that we will go in search of Karlstejn Castle, although we arrive later than expected to Prague, the icing on our route.
At this time it took another hour to arrive and we only got to see it from afar, since at this time there is no transport that takes us to the enclosure and you can not climb with a car.

Karlstejn Castle

It has been the disappointment of the day, because we have spent more than 40 minutes, circling the town, without finding a way to get in a car. On foot we know that they are 2 kilometers of slope and the truth is that we are not for the work.
Seeing that it is an impossible mission, we are on our way to Prague leaving this visit as pending for the next time we come to the Czech Republic, which we will surely do.

Landscapes of the Czech Republic

We arrive in 40 minutes to our hotel in Prague, the Archibald City and there they tell us that if we only need parking for one night, we have to go to another one nearby (although we had already sent a reserved email from the hotel itself).
Upon arriving at the other parking lot, we met for the first time, with an unfriendly character of the Czechs, which we had read in some forums, existed.
We have a brief discussion with security, because it does not let us in and it gets a lot of edge which causes that after some calls to our hotel, it allows us to leave the car there.
After a few minutes of altercation, we can say that we are finally in Prague, the city that will welcome us the next few days and with which we will end this route through the Czech Republic.
We leave our bags, check that the room is very good and go to dinner, this time without paying much attention to the recommendations of restaurants in Prague we have.

We are not too located, so we go walking without a fixed course and without any plane to guide us and unintentionally, we are going to stop at Wenceslas Square, a spectacular place at night and that we had read that it was not a highly recommended place.
Is it the excitement of being in Prague that makes us see everything spectacular?
There we have a good time, walking it from end to end and take the opportunity to dine at a food stall in the street.
We have always thought that at lunchtime we “deserve” a break and although they are fast food places, we look for some where to rest for a while.
But tonight is an exception, we see some sausage stalls looking very good and we decided to buy them and sit on a bench for dinner.
It's quite cold and we have a good pull today, so after dinner we go straight to the hotel to rest.
Tomorrow we will start our Prague tour, one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
