Day 2: BREMEN

Friday, April 2, 2010

Today, for the first time on one of our trips, we set the alarm at 8 in the morning. We do not have many rigid plans in Bremen, so we will take the opportunity to go back to the Marktplatz area in the historic center of Bremen among others of the many places we saw yesterday when we arrived in Bremen, but today we want to travel again in a working day to know this other environment.
We got up without hurry and went down to breakfast at the Best Western Schaper-Siedenburg, since today we have lunch included in the price of the room and the truth is that it is very complete and of good quality. This hotel is highly recommended, not only because of the location, but also because of its quality / price ratio.

When we are done, we have gone directly to the station to take out the train tickets from Bremen to Hamburg in the morning.
-First setback: we don't know how the happy little machine goes.
-Second setback: where is the Spanish or English language.
-Third setback: 98 euros the ticket.
In the end after a few minutes turning and giving some buttons, we have managed to see the information in Spanish and get the tickets for 37 euros both.
We had the option of choosing about 98 euros, with which it would take 54 minutes to get from Bremen to Hamburg and ours will take 1 hour and 14 minutes, so we interpret that the price change is due to the difference of those 24 minutes.
The Bremen train station is quite large and today we can see the atmosphere of a working day that we couldn't see yesterday as it was a holiday.

We cross the inside of the Station, to go to the park in the back area and when we leave we find the sky of a threatening black color and the first drops begin to fall, so with an umbrella in hand, after 5 minutes walk, we decided to go back and take shelter.
When we checked the weather, it put on intermittent rains and we have to say that they have succeeded, since this has been the case throughout the day, especially in the morning.
Seen the time, we decided to go to the Marktplatz in the historic center of Bremen, to do some shopping.

Bremen

We have done almost the entire tour yesterday, somewhat quieter although raining, but making stops at craft and souvenir shops.
In the end we have achieved what we were looking for and seeing that time has given us a truce a few minutes we have gone to Markplatz to have a soda.

And never better, why did he make an exaggerated "fresh". We had to use up some blankets they had on the chairs.

Bremen Town Hall

We have drawn a lot of attention that on the terraces, both in the afternoon, and on bad days, in the chairs they leave some blankets for you to cover up, very good idea and that we will surely see soon in Spain.
We have taken the opportunity to explore the Bottcherstrasse street and take pictures in all corners that we left yesterday.

Bremen's most picturesque and tourist passage, full of red brick buildings.

Almost at 2 in the afternoon and after consulting again with Tripadvisor the best option to eat in Bremen, we have finished in another Italian near the hotel.
After eating and getting fed up for a more than affordable price, we see the hotel out of the corner of our eye and cannot resist, we are going to take a nap, which we deserve too.
Today we have decided that it will be a relaxing day. I do not remember any vacations or getaways, where we have been able to do this, although it is true that nobody forces us, but in the end we always end up with the full day self-imposed visits that we do not want to miss.
After this table at the hotel, enjoying a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation, we left again in the middle of the afternoon to the streets of Bremen that we took the opportunity to visit before going to dinner. We ended up in the Bistro, in Marktplatz in the historic center of Bremen, eating a giant sausage.

After this and with the stomach to burst, we return to the Best Western Schaper-Siedenburg to continue resting to be at full capacity tomorrow that it is time to visit a new German city: Hamburg.

Today we say goodbye to Bremen, a city that has made us fall in love.
