Day 5: YELLOWSTONE - GÉISERES AREA - OLD FAITHFUL

Today we left a little later of our hotel in West Yellowstonein which we have ahead of us the visit of all the Geyser area in Yellowstone and enjoy the great Old Faithful.
This area of geysers is spectacular and we believe that we have done well visiting the last day we are in the Yellowstone Park, because that is how we have seen the “geysers of the park” from least to greatest

We begin the visit through the area of Upper Geyser Basinplace where we can find a quarter of the existing geysers on the planet's surface.
Here we can find 75 active geysers and 600 springs of hot water.

After a walk on the trails you can reach Castle Géyser, one of the oldest and most beautiful in Yellowstone Park that arises for approximately 50 minutes every 13 hours.
After Castle Géyser, following the platforms we reach Grand Géyser, more powerful than Old Faithful but less predictable, every 10 hours or so.

Throughout this tour, time has not accompanied us too much, since it has been very cold and it has been drizzling almost all day, but we have still been able to visit everything we had planned.

From here we go to Black sand basin where we can find some incredible multicolored ponds, especially the Esmerald Pool. In this area we also go through the Cliff Geyser, where we passed yesterday, which has formed at the edge of the river, to reach the Sunset Lake, an impressive lake.

Yellowstone National Park
From here we go to Midway Geyser Basin, where you can admire the impressive Grand Prismatic Spring, the park's largest hot spring and the second largest in the world, with its nearly 100 meters in diameter.
The only thing we could not do, due to bad weather, has been to climb a nearby hill to be able to see with perspective the Grand prismatic and make some of the photos we have seen in many reports. The wind blew against it and it was impossible to see anything because of the smoke that was there, although we have been satisfied with being able to contemplate it closely and see such a phenomenon of nature.

After enjoying the Grand Prismatic, we return to take our rental car in the United States we go to Lower Geysir Basin where you can admire several of the biggest geysers like the Great Fountain Géyser which usually reaches 30 meters high and erupts every 8 or 12 hours.
The 4 areas we have visited in the area of geysers in Yellowstone they have been spectacular, but the highlight has been to enjoy, by chance, the eruption of Castle Geyser, Awesome.

After seeing the eruption of Castle Geyser, we have to say that Old faithful We were a bit disappointed. Perhaps because of the expectations we had or perhaps because of the number of phenomena we have seen in these 3 days that we have been in the Yellowstone Park, but the truth is that we liked a lot more than we have seen before.

Today was a little quieter day on the Yellowstone tour and we have arrived before our hotel in West Yellowstone, but not before seeing other geysers on the way to the exit of one of the most impressive parks in the world.

We do not cease to be surprised with the amount and diversity of landscapes offered by the Yellowstone Park, which has exceeded all our expectations.

Once we have reached West Yellowstone, we see that all the stores close at 6, so we have not had time to go shopping or go around the town and have gone to dinner at the same restaurant in the We were last night and had dinner so well.
Around 9 pm we return to the hotel to rest, review the planning tomorrow and look again at the photographs we have taken these days in Yellowstone, one of the most amazing places in the world.
