This guide of how to get from Dublin airport to downtown It will help you to choose the best option in public and private transport, to make the transfer to your accommodation or to the city center.

The Dublin Airport, located 12 kilometers from the city, is one of the busiest traffic in Europe thanks to its reference company, Ryanair. Although it does not have a metro and train to make the transfer to the center, it has an efficient bus service and a wide range of private transportation from both terminals.

Based on the days we spent in the city during our 10-day trip to Ireland, we show you all the ways to do the transfer from the airport to Dúblin, so you can choose the most comfortable and cheap. We start!

Bus

Dublin Airport has a wide range of bus companies that travel to downtown or to other cities such as Belfast and Galway.
Among the most comfortable and fast companies, without many intermediate stops, to make the transfer from Dublin airport to the center include Aircoach, Airlink and Dublin Bus.

  • Aircoach bus: these blue buses that leave from the two terminals and are operational 24 hours a day, taking you downtown in 30 minutes for 7 euros or 12 euros if you buy the round trip ticket.
Depending on the time you land you can buy the tickets at the kiosks or directly to the driver.
Another option, with which you will also save one euro, is buying the tickets online on the official Aircoach website.
This bus line makes two stops in the central and popular streets of O'Connell and Grafton, and two more in streets a little further from the center such as Kildare and Leeson Street Lower. Keep in mind that during the day the frequency of passage is 15 minutes, while at dawn it rises to half an hour.

  • Airlink: green buses on line 747 will take you from the two terminals from Dublin airport to the city center in half an hour for 7 euros or 12 euros if you buy round trip. The schedule is from 5h in the morning until 00:30, with a frequency of about 15 minutes.
The final stop of the Airlink is the Dublin Heuston train station that communicates with other cities in the country. We recommend getting off at O'Connell Street or College Green / Temple Bar, depending on the location of your accommodation.
You can buy tickets directly from the driver, at the automatic vending machines, at the information desk or on this website.
A good option is to buy the DoDublin Card, which includes Airlink service, 72 hours of access to tourist buses and discounts at the main attractions of the city.
  • Dublin Bus: If you want to save a few euros, the price of the ticket is 3.30 euros, and you carry little luggage, you can choose lines 16 or 41 of the Dublin Bus to go from the airport to Dublin. One of the disadvantages of this service is that it makes many stops and it can take between 45 minutes and an hour to reach the city center. It is important to bring the exact amount in coins to pay directly to the driver.

These buses operate from 5 in the morning to 11 at night, with a frequency of 15 minutes. The most common stop on line 41 is Abbey Street Lower and on line 16 is O'Connell Street, both located in the city center.

Transfer from Dublin airport to downtown

A good recommendation to stay in the city is to look for a hotel near a bus stop to have a good connection to the airport.
Before booking the hotel, keep in mind that Dublin is one of the European cities that has the highest accommodation prices, especially in the center. For this reason, we stayed at the Leeson Lodge House, a bit far from the center, although located very close to the Aircoach bus stop. In addition to its good location, the hotel has parking, a good breakfast and one of the best quality / price ratios in the city.

The easiest and fastest way to get to the center of Dublin from the airport It is to book this private transfer.

The price in a 4-seater tourism is 40 euros, while the 6-seater minibus is worth 45 euros, the 8-seater 50 euros and the 12-seater 70 euros.
